Dr. Sid and his team are responsible for receiving the largest grant in The University of North Texas HealthScience Center (UNTHSC) history and one of the largest awards ever given to Alzheimer’s research. Dr. Sid’s $150 million federal grant from the National Institute for Aging.
There are more African Americans in Dr. Sid’s Health and Aging Brain Study (HABS) than any other studies in the U.S . This study is designed to be a model and scalable in the fight against Alzheimer’s that is disproportionately affecting Blacks, Hispanics and Non-Whites.
Lack of representation in health studies fuel the missing answers and on average, the cost for families to serve as a caregiver for a loved one living with dementia and/or Alzheimer’s disease is roughly $14,280 each year.
